ADVENTURE RACE!!

On Tuesday we 1st Years undertook the TPP right of passage by completing the 24hr adventure race around Lake Kaniere and on the Arahura River. Stages included a 16km run/bike, 3.5km raft run, making fire, a series of raft races down the lower Arahura, quiz, a grueling 26km tramp, 2km raft across the lake to make camp and snatch a few hours sleep, then a Rogaine stage where our team sea kayaked and set up a Tyrolean Traverse. It was a stern test, especially walking into the night with extreme blistered feet, but great to complete and get through with the team! Yeah!

Orca's in Abel Tasman

One of the highlights from our week-long sea kayaking trip in Abel Tasman National Park was a family of Orca whales that cruised past us on their way down the coast, probably hunting stingrays in the shallow waters of the bay. It was an amazing experience to see them so near and as they only spend a few days in the park we were very lucky to get a glimpse.

1000 Acre Plateau

Just returned from a great 4 day tramp around the 1000 Acre Plateau. Awesome spot with some unusual terrain for NZ.
